Muslim students provide 500 coats for poor

Students of the Al-Hijra and An-Noor Islamic schools lent a warm hand to the Unemployed Help Centre by donating more than 500 coats on Tuesday.
Working with the Rose City Islamic Centre and the Windsor Islamic Association, the two schools managed to beat last year’s record by almost 100 coats.
“The whole school participated,” said An-Noor’s principal Amney Behiry. “We didn’t realize we had beaten our record until this morning.”
Four students presented Unemployed Help Centre CEO June Muir with the donation. Muir said the quality of this year’s batch of coats is also better than last year’s.
“Because they’re brand-new coats, that means a lot,” said Muir. “They did a great job.”
