Rep. Keith Ellison’s Historic Testimony during House Hearings

Rep. Keith Ellison’s Historic Testimony during House Hearings

Just as our children today read in their history books about the internment of Japanese-Americans and about the McCarthy Hearings, a time will come (not too far in the future hopefully) when our children’s children will read about how there was a generation of Americans who stood by idly as an elected member of public office–a United States congressman no less–held anti-Muslim hearings.

That future generation will marvel at our complacency.  But, we will not just be accused of apathy, but of wholesale bigotry.  And many of us will be disgraced and shamed–just like those police officers captured in 1960′s footage hosing down black Americans will forever live in infamy for what they did.  Mostly those who will be remembered will be the villains–Peter King, Glenn Beck, maybe Barack Obama (the president who did nothing to stop it–the guy who made it seem like it’s a smear to be called a Muslim)…

But there will be one good guy we’ll read about, and one testimony that we’ll remember.  It will be one of those defining moments in history. His testimony is hardly eloquent…but Ellison has captured the moment beautifully. He has shed a tear for us all, for America’s lost soul. Here it is:

What a disgusting display of “victimhood”. As well as an offensive comparison.

How dare you compare concerned people SPEAKING about REAL radicals and terrorists..to..those DESPICABLE COPS who actually ABUSED and HARMED countless INNOCENT black people (REAL victims)!

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING would be rolling-over-in-his-grave right now at this perversion of “civil rights”!
He KNEW all too well what it was like to be a REAL VICTIM of bigotry.
A WONDERFUL MAN who spent his life, and lost his life, fighting for EQUALITY, FAIRNESS and RESPECT… NOT for prima donna status, EXCEPTIONS and EXEMPTIONS.

  2. Keith Ellison is a liar and a hypocrite. Mohammed Salman Hamdani has allways been seen as a hero in this country.

  3. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) may have made some headlines for breaking down in tears during the Homeland Security Committee hearing on Thursday, but another witness, Abdirizak Bihi,a Muslim and Director of the Somali Education and Social Advocacy Center in Minneapolis, offered something more newsworthy, an indictment of Ellison himself.
Although he didn’t mention Ellison by name at the hearing, Mr Bihi has been publicly critical of Ellison’s handling of the disappearance of some 20 Somali youths recruited by a Jihadist group in their native country. Bihi’s nephew Burhan Hassan was killed in Somalia after traveling there to join Al-Shabbab, a terrorist organization working to overthrow the Somali government.
Mr Bihi also has accused the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Minnesota chapter of discouraging local Somalis from cooperating with the FBI in trying to find out what happened.Bihi went into detail about how the leadership of his local mosque, as well as CAIR, obstructed the search for the missing youth. He said, “the mosque leadership was always in the mode of double-speak”.

  4. Why doesn’t this Peter T. King investigate the “Home Grown” radicalization of Irish Americans, who support the tradition wing of the IRA (Irish Republican Army), or Noraid (The Irish Northern Aid Committee), and being recruited by “Enemy Overseas” or worse “Enemy Overseas” the “Catholic Church ”, where they radicalize the priests into raping our young American boys, what about that you hypocrite scumbag.

Peter King is a hypocrite, he supported the terrorist group IRA, who killed innocent British people, but hey I guess that was OK, right? Killing innocent people is OK, as long as they are not born is the United States, yup that sounds about right. I guess Jesus Christ would give all you extra points for that, NOT!

No, there are no dancing in the street when Catholics hear about a pedophile priest, but there has been a concerted effort to Deny, Deflect, Defend this “Enemy Overseas” the “Catholic Church ”, I don’t even think you could deny that fact. What would Jesus Christ, say about this so called Church, I have a few thoughts myself.

  5. Angel, save your faux-outrage for someone gullible enough to buy into it. Dr. King didn’t just fight for African-Americans. He fought for everyone to be treated with justice and judged by the content of their character. And what did he get as a result? Well, he and those who supported his goals were called traitors and treasonous and religious radicals whose views were antithetical with what it means to be a REAL American. It isn’t just a coincidence that these are the same things being said about Muslims who continue to seek those same things that King strove for nor is it coincidence that the folks who demonized him look exactly like the folks who are now using the same kind of bigoted rhetoric against Muslims.

McCarthy was a big hero at one time, too. Look at how he is almost universally viewed by intelligent people today. Representative King may enjoy some support now, but history shows that those who seek to deprive others of their rights are bound to be scorned and rejected in the future.

  6.
“No, there are no dancing in the street when Catholics hear about a pedophile priest”
No, there certainly was NO dancing in the street over creepy disgusting pedophile priests… nor over the small handful of disgusting catholic clerics who tried to hide it. MOST… I repeat MOST catholics… 99.9999999999% of catholic, as well as any decent person on earth is completely, utterly digusted and horrified over it.

However, there WAS “dancing in the street”, LITERALLY (caught on film) by Muslims over the bombing of a Coptic church and massacre of Copts in Egypt just THIS PAST NEW YEAR’S EVE. Some of them even literally stepping on BLOWN-UP BODY-PARTS as the celebrated and chanted “ALLAHU AKBAR!!!!!!” Quite a few others, who couldn’t be physically present for the event, celebrated by high-fiving it on FACEBOOK.

  7. Angel, are you kidding? Look how many people CONTINUE to give money to the Roman Catholic church that helped priests sexually victimize thousands of children. If you’re disgusted and horrified by something, do you continue to fund it? Do you continue to support the system that carried it out? Do you continue to send your children into a situation that you KNOW has made it possible for thousands before them to be sexually assaulted over and over and over and over again?

Do you really want to go there comparing Catholics to Muslims? Do I need to go into how Catholics behaved during the Inquisition and the Crusades? And how they participated and even provided religious justification for the genocide of MILLIONS of Native Americans? How about the ways that they aided Hitler in the imprisonment, torture and murder of Jews? Do you really want to go there? The number of people killed by Catholics far outnumbers those who have died at the hands of Muslims. The Bible says that in the same way that you judge others, so shall you be judged. If we judge the Catholic church by the standards that you are using, then it is the biggest predatory and criminal organization on the planet and has been for over a thousand years.

  8.
“Dr. King didn’t just fight for African-Americans. He fought for everyone to be treated with justice and judged by the content of their character.”
Did I say Dr. King fought for ONLY African-Americans? No, I didn’t. I said he fought for “equality, fairness and respect.” And yes, you are correct: He did want everyone to be treated equally, with justice and liberty for ALL.

In contrast, many Muslims and CAIR are constantly fighting for special considerations, exceptions and exemptions… NOT for fairness and equality.

  9. Oh really? What “special considerations, exceptions, and exemptions” are they supposedly fighting for? You are making this claim without a single fact to back it up.

By the way, I notice you didn’t have anything to say about all of the evidence that you were completely erroneous about the Catholic stance towards the worldwide sexual assault of children by its religious leaders or the violence that the Roman Catholic church has perpetrated against people throughout the world.

  10. Oh, and while we are on the subject of being caught celebrating deaths and posing with body parts, have you stopped and thought about what religion those folks who did the very same thing with innocent (Muslim) Iraqis? What denomination were the folks who went in and killed an entire Iraqi family, except for the young girl in the house, who they raped and then burned alive in order to cover their tracks? Were those US soldiers who were caught on tape massacring innocent news reporters and then cheering afterward Muslims? I find it funny, in a pathetic sort of way, how you have nothing to say about the groups that you align yourself who engage in the same behavior that you CLAIM to abhor.

  11. Bint,
I actually have plenty of examples of special considerations not only having been demanded and/or requested but… also of them having been granted.

And I have tons of information and analyses on the other things as well.

I am trying to type on a little phone… plus I’m at work, and I keep getting interrupted.
If you are really interested in an honest debate/discussion, I’ll need some time to get caught up.

But if you really don’t want answers… if your questions are the condescending, rhetorical questions that they appear to be (based on your tone and your ad hominem attacks) then so be it.

Hopefully my energy won’t be wasted. Surely there some lone reader who will appreciate my efforts.

  12. what of the christians killing muslims in Iraq , Afghan and other countries ? Will you also bring them to court Mr ?

  13. Josp, My BS detector just went off. First time today, congrats!

  14. Angel, you made the claim. It’s your responsibility to back up your claim. If you couldn’t do it, then you shouldn’t have said it. Now you want more time? The rest of us are using our time, too. If you are looking for “honest debate/discussion”, then engage in it. If you want someone to be nice to you and coddle you, then you’re in the wrong place. Try nursery school or group therapy. If you can’t stand the heat, then stay out of the kitchen. You get all crazy with the Caps button and exclamation marks, but then want to be treated gently. You’re going to get what you give. If you don’t want rhetorical questions, then don’t make them. If you don’t want condescension, then don’t display it. You’re not going to get “special considerations, exceptions, and exemptions” from anyone here.

Now, you can either produce the information to back up your claims or bow out with whatever dignity you think you have left.

  15. Oh please… as if I want coddling & babying from your rude self. Just because your unwarranted, rude comments are noticed, doesn’t mean I take them personally. I don’t appreciate rudeness and ridiculous ad hominem attacks even when they’re NOT directed toward me. They contribute nothing of value to ANY discussion, whether I’m involved OR not. MOST decent and reasonable people find such behavior quite distasteful.

So, am I offended by your poor board-etiquette? No, but it certainly doesn’t put you at the top-of-my-list of things-to-do and people-to-reply-to.

I couldn’t care less what you think of me or of anything I write. My ONLY reason for responding, to you, has nothing to do with you or me. When I get around to addressing each one of your questions, assertions, and obnoxious “arguments”, it will NOT be out of some delusion that there is any hope of getting you to concede that I have some valid points… or of transforming you into a reasonable or respectful person.
I have no need to try to prove anything to YOU. But I do find it rather interesting (and insanely ironic) that you find it rational to talk-down-your-nose at me, from your from your high-arrogant-misguided-horse, as though I am the one who is misinformed.

As for basic rules of argument:
A person isn’t required to provide back-up for a simple statement or claim. The onus is on the challenger to prove the statement invalid.

However, I WILL provide examples and evidence at my leisure… NOT for you… but for the random, ill-informed YET soundly-logical person who MIGHT just happen in and read any of this nonsense (be it 95% of the posts or the ridiculously skewed “articles” by the “journalists”). It is for THAT person that I will even bother SORTING THROUGH ALL your:
    ¤ attacks
    ¤ questions
    ¤ assertions
    ¤ circular arguments
    ¤ intellectual dishonesty
… that you’ve been firing at me all over this frickin’ place.

And it is for THAT person that I took the time to type THIS post on this teeny, tiny, little cellphone keypad.

In fact, the ONLY thing I have to say to YOU is that CAPS and !!!!!!!!’s are used for emphasis. They DON’T make for disrespectful, rude content UNLESS used to emphasize disrespectful, rude comments.

  16. You seriously need to educate yourself. If I said “The moon is made of green cheese”, the onus would be on me to prove my assertion. Likewise, if you say that Muslims are looking for “special considerations, exceptions, and exemptions”, then it’s your responsibility to prove it. You’re trying to wiggle your way out of proving these silly claims you’ve made.

Your hypocrisy is amusing, though. You make all sorts of rude comments here, but now you’re complaining that someone is talking to you in the same tone that YOU set. If you can’t deal with how you’re being spoken to, then change your own attitude, because I believe in speaking to people in the language that they show they can understand. If you are rude, then you will receive rudeness in return. Most “decent and reasonable people” don’t start things they aren’t prepared to finish.

You may or may not be misinformed, but your claims are certainly incorrect. You keep saying that you can prove what you claimed, but instead of doing that you create a post whining about how you don’t like what I’ve said to you. You whine about having to type on a tiny keyboard, but in the time it took you to complain about me, you could have simply provided this proof that you claim to have in abundance. That’s called stalling and no amount of caps or exclamation points can cover it up.

Have your say!
