Herman Cain Issues Apology After Meeting With Muslim Leaders

Herman Cain

WASHINGTON — Republican Herman Cain is apologizing to Muslim leaders for vitriolic remarks he made about Islam while campaigning for the presidential nomination.

The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO has said communities have a right to ban Islamic mosques because Muslims are trying to inject sharia law into the U.S. He’s also said he would not want a Muslim bent on killing Americans in his administration.

On Wednesday, Cain met with four Muslim leaders in Stirling, Va. He said in a statement later he was “truly sorry” for comments that may have “betrayed” his commitment to the Constitution and the religious freedom it guarantees.

He also acknowledged that Muslims, “like all Americans,” have the right to practice freely their faith and that most Muslim Americans are peaceful and patriotic.

  1. lol, I hope he’s sincere in his apology.

  2. He calls that an apology? I call that an attempt to say whatever he wants without losing votes, or politics as usual. Cain is not as slick as your typical Presidential candidate, which makes me think he’s not got much of a chance of getting the Republican nomination. Then again, they DID back George Bush, Jr. who was not the best political speaker or gifted at being able to think on his feet.

Cain “outed” himself on this one, and has not made up for it in his alleged apology. His comments actually “betrayed” his prejudices instead of his commitment to the constitution and to religious freedom. Anyone who strives to limit the construction of places of worship obviously has NO such “commitment” to anyone’s religious freedom but his own.

  3. An apology of crocodile tear proportion, perhaps, but not genuine. The man like another Presidential Candidate and fellow Congress member, Michelle Bachmann, are both sociopaths and are as shallow as they come. Yuck factor rating – 100%

  4. …He said in a statement later he was “truly sorry” for comments that may have “betrayed” his commitment to the Constitution and the religious freedom it guarantees…
That is not an apology to the Muslims… what he is saying is sorry guys if you don’t like it but I believe this.

  5. maybe after the bombing in oslo, his far right christian backers relized that if you can ban an entire religion for the actions of one or a few, than christianity isn’t safe from government banning.

as for his comments about keeping sharia law out, i’m in full favor of that. just like cannon law and jewish law, and hindu law, and zorostian law, and voodoo law, and bahia’a law, and janism, law and buddist law, and santaria law, and shikh law, and shinto law …man i’m getting tired, how about one law for all americans. or is that a too extreme and radical veiw????????

  6. Clearly his “apology”, was not an apology. He made it clear that he believes what he said and is just trying to get votes. Who did he meet with to prompt this fake apology?

  7. bodybuilding routine…
