Mohammed Merah: Al-Qaeda Linked Terrorist is Chief Suspect Behind French Murders

The chief suspect in the murders of three French soldiers (2 North Africans, 1 Caribbean), and four Jews, including three children, we are being told is a 23 year old man named Mohammed Merah. The French interior minister, Claude Gueant alleges that the motive behind the attack was to,

“take revenge for Palestinian children” killed in the Middle East, and [he] was angry at the French military for its operations abroad.

This explanation of a motive will give little comfort to the bereaved families. How can Merah purport to be acting in the cause of Palestine when he TARGETED innocents? What demented, twisting acrobatics enabled him to let go of the innate morals within his humanity and kill children? Did he not realize he was betraying Islam, its core principles and the causes he claimed to be fighting for when he went on this killing spree?

The sort of callousness and cold precision with which he operated reveals the mind of a sickening sociopath.

Islamophobes in their haste had pinned their hopes on this murderer being a Muslim, so that they could once again smear and condemn Islam and Muslims. They attempt to minimize and cover for the role that occupation, war, invasion and murder plays in producing anger and…terrorists.

The double standards from them are expected, when an Anders Behring Breivik exterminates 60+ children he is, according to them, a “lone gunman,” a “nutter.” No discussion about the ideology, the anti-Muslim Islamophobic extremism that inspired Breivik’s terrorist Crusade, and which they propagate daily, is mentioned. When a US soldier goes on a rampage and eliminates 16+ civilians as they sleep, including 9 children we do not even learn their names and the soldier is treated with sympathy in the media and PRAISE amongst the Muslim haters.

If the allegations against Mohammed Merah are true, and they likely are, he should face the full brunt of the law for his crimes, but lets hope that the anti-Muslims do not attempt to use these horrific incidents to shift the focus from the true enemy, radical violent extremism whether Islamist (AlQaeda) or Radical Right (Anders Breivik, EDL, etc.). Life in Europe and particularly France, which is already seeing a campaign feeding off of right-wing populism and anti-Muslim rhetoric, will most likely get more difficult now.

What will be missing from all this is the fact that as long as wars of occupation, daily bombing and hate-mongering persist against Muslim majority nations you can rest assured that you will create more Mohammed Merah’s.

*Update I: If it’s not abundantly clear from the above, let me say it, Merah and the AlQaedah ideology is responsible for this crime, no one else, he stands completely condemned by Loonwatch as he does by nearly every honest and humane person. There is no apology above or blame shifting, just stating the facts. Merah himself claims to be acting out in revenge due to the killing of Palestinians and Afghans, I didn’t say this, the French Interior Minister did. Many seem to think we can’t even discuss the motives of these attacks?

  1. So what is the explanation for the persecution of non muslims in say, Egypt? Why do Turks and Iraqis kill Kurds? Hazara?

This episode may be revenge – they are now saying the soldier’s was too – but there is a whole lot of violence going on which is not based on invasion, occupation, etc.

  2. the lawyers for loonwatch and this site might want to tell their contributors to throw the word alledged in a few times.

as for innate morals, i’ve never heard of any proof of such a thing. all morals are learned. that’s why so much of the “path to water” is so troubling.

    Book 019, Number 4346:

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: If you come to a township (which has surrendered without a formal war) and stay therein, you have a share (that will be in the form of an award) in (the properties obtained from) it. If a township disobeys Allah and His Messenger (and actually fights against the Muslims) one-fifth of the booty seized therefrom is for Allah and His Apostle and the rest is for you.

religion of peace. seems more a conquering horde.

  3. Persecution persists in any country, regardless of religion, usually due to poverty and lack of education. one can see violent persecution decrease drastically in Europe and America as standard of living and access to schooling increase. Even in the US itself, where do racial tensions and xenophobic persecution run highest? Poor sections of cities and the south. where is poverty the highest and standards of education the lowest? Poor sections of cities, and the south. Corrupt leadership, and in many (but not all) cases, western interference in addition to a lack of natural resources (oil brings in a lot of money, but only for oil executives and the government, and little of that profit is seen by the common people)have perpetuated these conditions. Look as sub-saharan Africa or Latin America or Southeast Asia. Not many Muslims there. And yet they still face rampant violence due to poverty and repression. And that is still in areas with more abundant natural resources (which people can actually access, such as agriculture, vast forests with many foods and plant products, etc). That is why some Egyptians kill Copts and some Syrians kill Kurds. It is pent up frustration at a very difficult lifestyle, lack of education about other cultures and human diversity, and manipulative, corrupt, and repressive regimes that either use such hatred to their advantage, or feed it by increasing the frustration, poverty, and ignorance of the population with their policies.

  4. This has nothing to do with ISlam. In Islam we are not allowed to kill innocent, even when we are fighting Jihad. We are not even allowed to destry trees. He should be senteced harshly to death by islamic shariah. Just like Norway killer, this has nothing to do with Christianity or Islam. These people are insane. This can happen to anyone. A person who is fed up with debt kills bankers in America, a person who listens to death metal kills his student etc. Doesnt mean we need to get rid of music or banks or blame it on them.

This person is Insane, there is no place for child murderers in Islam

You are right – this has nothing to do with the French Muslim community or Islam. If this is labeled “terrorism” by the French State it will add to the mounting evidence of how biased and discriminatory counter-terrorism practice is in Western governments. There have been shootings and attacks by non-Muslims that are never labeled “terrorism.” The difference here is the religious background of the killer.

These murders were committed by a single person for his own personal reasons. But – we can bet that this will, like the Theo van Gogh murder, be blown out of proportion by being labeled a “act of terrorism,” which it is only terrorism on the part of a single individual.

In the Netherlands, the murder or Theo van Gogh has now been used to justify the stigmatization of the entire Moroccan community, the criminalization of religious faith and political views, including political activity that all Dutch citizens have the right to engage in. The Dutch State alone claims that that the Theo van Gogh murder “was terrorism” and other claims by “counter-terrorism experts” are just an echo chamber of Dutch State claims.

Beware of statements that come out of governments, especially claims by the French State and “terrorism experts” that this is “terrorism.” Orthodox terrorism studies field cannot arrive on a definition or “terrorism” in the first place, so any attempt be France or “counter-terrorism experts” should be met with skepticism.

So – we see “terrorism” operationalized as “something only Muslims do.” This is why the worst terrorist-type attack in the Netherlands, the 2009 Queen’s Day attack in Apeldoorn against the royal family (8 dead, 10 injured) nor the Alphen aan den Rijn shopping mall attack last year by Alphen aan den Rijn (7 dead 16 injured). Since neither the attackers were Muslims – these are not terrorist attacks – and this gives us a good idea of how “terrorism” is operationalized in the Netherlands.

Now – what about Florence street vendors shot dead by lone radical right gunman in December. Is this not terrorism?!

To now label these horrible murders “terrorism” will build mounting evidence that “terrorism” is something that “only Muslims do.” This means that Western governments (France, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA) use the label “terrorism” when a single person kills for his own personal reasons is a Muslim. This means that Western governments engage in discriminatory practices in counter-terrorism practice – and this violates various international and European human rights treaties and conventions.

The next time somebody goes on a shooting rampage – and they are not Muslim – see if it will be labeled “jihad terrorism.”

  6. eslaporte,

how’s loonwatch. seems you are still crazy as a loon. one sentence it’s not terrorism the next it’s personal terrorism. if the western governments only label terrorism when done by muslims, then how is it loonwatch and this site can claim that interpol and the fbi only label like 2% of terrorism as islamic? well if they’re not muslim it definately won’t be labeled “jihad” terrorism. but non-muslim shooters are labeled as terrorist all the time.

    Valliere, France

Two ETA members opened fire on a gendarme at a police checkpoint in the town of Valliere after they refused to stop. A gun battle broke out with the gunmen. They were arrested by police the following day. No one was killed or injured in the incident.[94]

  7. well when you “pin” a letter to someone’s chest that starts out

    “Open letter to Hirshi Ali

In the name of Allah – the BeNeficent – the Merciful

Peace and Blessings from the head of the Holy Warriors – the laughing killer Mohammed Rasoeloe Allah -(Sala Allaho alahie wa Sallam) his family and his companions who will steadfastly accompany him till on the Day of Judgement.”

  8. zamanbn,

you sure about the tree? they won’t let me link the website. but this is from faith in allah (all one word) .org. sunnah tab sahih muslim

Chapter 10: JUSTIFICATION FOR CUTTING DOWN THE TREES AND BURNING THEM

    ________________________________________

    Book 019, Number 4324:

It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) ordered the date-palms of Banu Nadir to be burnt and cut. These palms were at Buwaira. Qutaibah and Ibn Rumh in their versions of the tradition have added: So Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, revealed the verse:” Whatever trees you have cut down or left standing on their trunks, it was with the permission of Allah so that He may disgrace the evil-doers” (lix. 5).

    ________________________________________

    Book 019, Number 4325:

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) caused the date-palms of Banu Nadir to be cut down and burnt. It is in this connection that Hassan (the poet) said:

It was easy for the nobles of Quraish to barn Buwaira whose sparks were flying in all directions.

in the same connection was revealed the Qur’anic verse:” Whatever trees you have cut down or left standing on their trunks.”

    ________________________________________

    Book 019, Number 4326:

‘Abdullah b. Umar reported that Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) burnt the date-palms of Banu Nadir.

  9. Why wouldn’t these seven killings be labeled “terrorism”? The killer claimed to have been trained by the terrorist group Al Qaeda. The killer said he killed the soldier because France had troops in Afghanistan and the Jewish children to avenge Palestinian children. The killer also said he wanted to bring France to it knees. Mohammed Merah looks like a terrorist to me.

  10. the western media (islamophobes, no doubt)say “Mohammed Merah: Al-Qaeda Linked Terrorist is Chief Suspect Behind French Murders” oh wait that’s from this site.

    Siyajkak,

you’re right. the more you have in life the less likely you are to risk it and the less you fear competition from foreigners or “different” people. the less you need to identify with your tribe. that’s what makes al-qaeda so perplexing. bin laden is educated and from one of the wealthest families in the middle east. yet he chose jihad. speaking of egyptians, al-zawahiri is a doctor.

btw indonesia is in southeast asia. most populated muslim country in the world. but yeah sub-sahara africa is a basketcase. but you can’t say that, that’s racist. you’re not allowed to judge other cultures.

seems to be something in islam that justifies violence? maybe it’s some of the hadiths. what do you think of this one??????????

    Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57:

    Narrated ‘Ikrima:

Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to ‘Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn ‘Abbas who said, “If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah’s Apostle forbade it, saying, ‘Do not punish anybody with Allah’s punishment (fire).’ I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah’s Apostle, ‘Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.’”
