Attorneys ask judge to throw out legal challenge to Murfreesboro Islamic Center

Attorneys ask judge to throw out legal challenge to Murfreesboro Islamic Center

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The final legal hurdle over construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro may be over.

County attorneys asked a judge to throw out the final legal challenge on Wednesday. Opponents have argued the county failed to give sufficient public notice before approving the project.

The judge will review the motion on April 19. County officials are hoping he will toss out a lawsuit that claims they did not give proper notice when approving building plans for the new Islamic Center of Murfreesboro.  Mosque opponents say they are readying a response.

Meanwhile, major progress has been made in construction of the center.  Distinctive arches have taken shape, the frame of the building is complete and workers are starting to put bricks around it.

“We are so excited,” said Imam Ossama Bahloul.  “I think when we have the new facility it will be a time for us to celebrate freedom of religion.”

  1. And of course it is in the South, where many American’s do know the truth about Islam. Except what the Bible toting Conservatives are telling them. Truly sad!

  2. Glad they can get started!

  3. The demons of Pim Fortuyn has been exorcised from Murfreesboro!

You should also know that part of the opponents’ claims was the Islam “is not a religion” and the US Attorney’s office put together a very nice narrative of the history of America’s wonderful experiences with Islam.

The notion that “Islam is not a religion, but a violent ideology: came largely from the Netherlands and Pim Fortuyn.

  4. eslaporte,

can’t it be a religion and a violent ideaology? are the two mutually exclusive? remeber the crusades. lol

let them build their moaque. best to have these things out in the open.

seperation of religion and state is what is important here.

  5. You are right Guil. Too many Americans don’t know the truth about Islam; that it is a violent political system cloaked in religion to push its agenda to establish Islamic rule in all countries.

Would you like to help me spread the word about this sick political system so that more Americans will know the truth about Islam?

  6. violent? hah! how about the fact that the Koran tells the reader to turn the other cheek, to forgive, to make peace, to establish treaties with non-believers and honor them. there is very little actual violence that the Koran advocates.

Have your say!
