UKIP candidate: ‘Koran is worse than Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf’

Julia Gasper

UKIP candidate: ‘Koran is worse than Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf’

A candidate for UKIP has compared Islam’s holiest book to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Political Scrapbook can reveal. Academic Julia Gasper – a former Westminster hopeful and current council candidate in Oxford – said the Koran was “fascist” and compared those who defend Islam to holocaust deniers.

In emails seen by Scrapbook, Gasper ranted:

Why is it any more wrong to assert that the Koran is a fascist book than to assert that Mein Kampf is a fascist book? The Koran is a lot more explicit in advocating hate and murder than Mein Kampf is.

Having dismissed comparisons between sections of the Koran and the Old Testament as “not valid”, Gasper responded to suggestions that her hateful bile was demonising Muslims:

Words like “demonization” are just self-deception. They are being used to persuade you to keep your eyes shut. In fact, the apologists for Islam are really very similiar to Holocaust deniers.

To compound matters, the rant comes to light as another UKIP candidate is suspended for expressing sympathies with Norwegian mass-murder Anders Breivik – and just days after Julia Gasper herself was slammed for saying gays should stop “complaining about persecution” and start thanking straight people for giving birth to them.

Looks like they’ll be making that a double suspension then.

No doubt Gasper’s comments will prove something of an embarrassment to UKIP leader Nigel Farage, who has been trying to shift his party away, if only slightly, from its hardline Islamophobic stance. The action taken against Steve Moxon over his pro-Breivik comments is a case in point (though Moxon remains a party member). Farage has even gone so far as to distance himself from UKIP’s policy of demanding a ban on the face veil. He has evidently calculated – correctly, judging by recent opinion polls – that the party stands to make gains by attracting disaffected Tories and that it will hardly encourage this development if UKIP comes over as a gang of rabid anti-Muslim bigots barely distinguishable from the EDL or BNP.

Unfortunately for Farage, however, the sort of sentiments expressed by Gasper are common currency in UKIP. Farage’s predecessor as party leader, Lord Pearson, actively aligned himselfwith views of the international counterjihadist movement, winning himself plaudits from the likes of Pamela Geller. Pearson notoriously invited Geert Wilders – whose comparison of the Qur’an to Mein Kampf Gasper was presumably defending – to show his film Fitna at the House of Lords. The UKIP candidate in last year’s Leicester South parliamentary by-election, Abhijit Pandya, made the news when he declared his support for Wilders’ view that Islam is a retarded ideology and described the faith as “morally flawed and degenerate”.

So Gasper’s comments will be a test of how strong a line Farage is prepared to take against the counterjihadist element within UKIP. My bet is that he will balk at risking a public fight with a substantial section of his own party, so the chances of Gasper being disciplined are slim.

  2. safe bet

  3. speaking from experience, is she?

  4. really? then why is it so similar to the bible and torah?

  5. What an uneducated, misinformed, ignorant twit is he!

  6. not even Cliff’s Notes :())~!

  7. Do not both espouse violence to non believers?

  8. And last I checked every holy book has violence, and other unsavory subject. Has anyone read the old testament? It can almost be a horror story in some parts.

  10. Adults are the biggest racists on the planet specially seniors. I hope she dies soon and meets her maker. I like how they photo shopped her broom out of the pic.

  11. Wow

  12. these same people don’t see the connection between the NDAA and Hitler’s Enabling Act….

  13. Suzi: you’re correct. However, islam has not had a reformation that christianity went through.

  14. The difference between Mein Kampf and the Koran/Holy Bible/Insert Ancient Text Here is that one is from the 20th century, and the others are from ancient cultures. Most people (Outside of extremists or people living in extremely rural societies where such stuff is guarded against) do not read those holy books and go “You know, I’m going start killing unmarried women who are not virgins!”

Yes, if the Koran was written in the 1900s, then her quote would be arguably correct. Times change and societies progress. A book with some very horrible passages written in a rather uncivilized period is held to a far different moral standard than a book with some very horrible passages written rather recently.

  15. isn’t guarded against*

  16. That’s a bunch of bull..

  17. That’s a bunch of bull..

  18. Paul, you mean the Reformation that killed a third of Europeans and initiated centurys of hate and violence? That one?

  19. Unfortunately this seems to be a very popular thing to say nowadays.

  20. Let’s just say it. All religion that espouses hatred is bullshit and should be done away with. Take what good you can find from it, put it in another book, label it whatever you like, but get rid of this prejudiced, collorary bronze-age bullshit about gays, virgins, and people of different beliefs and skin colors.

  21. Yup, that’s the one. It allowed folks to practice their religion without fear of persecution.
Much unlike islam of today…in certain parts of the world.

  22. I agree, people should be knowledgeable about what the material they discuss before they make biased, uninformed statements like that.

  23. if you take the essance of what each spiritual text is trying to convey ….it boils down to love…in all its forms….the quran also reconizes the torah an bible an jesus as one of the great teachers besides mohamid….the fact is that apparently this person who compared the quran to adolf hittlers book..really needs to look in her own mirror an say that to herself. what she said was offensive…when I bet shes never even had a teacher sit down with her or her family to explain the spiritual text of the quran….all the spiritual texts of the world like I said boil down to one thing…universal love…only hippocrates who never have tasted the deeper understanding or were brave enough to really look within themselves or experiance all the teachings of the world not just one really have no voice ….just because they may or may not have money or power and are in tge political spot light…doesnt mean they know anything …kat

  25. I wanted to post that coment. LOL

  26. My limited understanding of the New Testament is that of peace, love, etc. The quran, from what I can tell, does not have a New and Old .

  27. Martin, totally right i bet.

  28. Do what you think about Holy Bible and Torah are perfect, peace and no violence??

  29. from my understanding of having actually experianced the quran an its teachings an what ive taken away from the lessons is that the quran incorporates the quran the bible an the torah…get beyond any book when you embrace the teachings that allow for your soul to open more fully to embracing love an opening the only book that god/allah/ shiva..isert god/ goddess of your choice….reads when all other books fall away…is your heart an how you were able to write the experiances of love on your heart…weather you pray to one or many attributes of one god/ goddess at the end of the day were all praying to the universal truth of what we each embrace as a force we get hung up on as the all encomposing force of life that has far more intallagance and just is the divine we call by a name that describes all the forms of love mercy understanding an compassion that transends all religions an faiths…some say its god or goddess great spirit or allah…the name is just a name its the feeling it envokes in your heart when you say that name that writes your prayers upon your soul until the day that you pass….its the fact that we war over whos right or wrong that concerns me why really we are all here with pourpse to connect experiance to love an learn…when people have the courage to coexist to find the beauty in everything from the expression an stand point of love ….and being able as adults to see the world through the eyes of children an that of a mother or father or both trying to teach a soul about love including how to have faith an all the aspects an virtues that we ourselves try to live by …islam …native american cultures…hindi…all the religions In some form have a creed to live by…what is yours? what do you live by what do you want to leave behind to future generations?? myself how to love all creatures great an small with loe respect an honor..to teach understanding an compassion through acting as if …nothing more…love

  31. the torah, bible and koran are all bad. too muxh stoning and burning and flogging of people. a whole bunch of non-sense about the god of abraham. killing children and marrying them. the stupidity is endless.

  32. Wonder if said candidate has even read Mein Kampf…

  33. FINALLY a candidate with the guts to tell the truth!

  34. Yet another person who gets in the “stupid” line and goes back for seconds.

  35. Charley is a small his brain! Lol

  36. Ya becuase she never read it!

  37. What kind of nonsense is this. I believe that evangelical christians have moved so far away from the teaching’s of Jesus, that they literally don’t understand that the beliefs of both religions are ridiculously similar.

  38. Work of the Devil !

  39. What an uninformed idiot.

  40. kat,

the devil is in the details. have u read the koran or any hadiths?

  41. leave Islam and its teaching to Muslims only .. Don’t interfere with our religion please ! You are burning our holy book, we didn’t burned yours, you created cartoons, we didn’t, you killed innocent Muslims in Iraq, Palestine and Afghan, we are not killing yours … so its clear who’s region is peace full and who’s not …

  42. “we are not killing yours” are u kidding??????????? “so its clear who’s region is peace full and who’s not” lmfao.

  43. This article is a load of rubbish. For a start the person it attacks never made any statements in public, the remarks were hacked from private E-mails. So to show a pictore of them making a public speech is misleading. Secondly, only a very ignorant person would deny that what she said about the Quran is absolutely factually correct.
Richard Dawkins, Salman Rushdie and all the leading scholars on the topic have said the same thing long ago. So the idea that anyone needs to be disciplined for simply telling the truth is ludicrous.
Your readers comments are ignorant, illiterate and naive in the extreme.

  44. @ Kathlyn. There is no love in the Quran, nor is there any kindness, wisdom or inspiration. It is just a monotonous ranting of hatred and genocide. All unbelievers must be killed, all women kept as slaves and raped, all art and learning apart from islamic dogmas suppressed, all Jews must be killed, apostates must be killed, muslims mustn’t have friends outside islam or even smille at them…don’t insult the bible by making any comparison.

  45. Bailey Simmons , sorry i copied&paste your name, because i didnt want write your name, or having any detail about you and what your thinking.
You didn’t know what you were saying. You didnt know everything, even your own religion, whatever it is. If you a good chrstian you wouldn’t say that. Anyone who respect his/her own religion/belief, must respect other’s religion too, unless you’r being attacked, humiliated, intimidated, killed, by other, you will never respect them. What has been done by Islam to you?. Any complaining?. Okey, you would say that the 911 attack was committed by muslim, and others with similarities with it, as many people say that. The bad deeds must be performed by bad people as well. If there’s bad deeds committed by perpetrator whose religion is Islam or Christianity, the religion itself is not bad, but bad people is bad.
Quran’s turning verse by verse by event experienced by Mohammad’s life. So that, in understanding of the Quran there is a special knowledge, which is called the science of asbab Nuzul al. Which examines the reasons those verses was revealed. So, it’s needed to understand the interpretation of qur’an before you speak yourself, as you do towards the bible.

  46. the 911 attack was an inside job, by the way. Many scientists proved that!!!

  47. uhh, how about why tony blair’s sister turned to be a muslim?

Have your say!
