Fox News Contributor: “A High Percentage” Of Muslims “Hate Christians And Jews”; “The Real Problem Is The Quran”

29 June 2012 General 22 Comments Email This Post Email This Post

Fox News contributor Steven Crowder continued Fox News’ pattern of inciting intolerance against Islam, accusing a “high percentage” of Muslims of “hat[ing] Christians and Jews” and saying that “the real problem is the Quran.”

Crowder made his comments on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show. Hannity aired a clip from a French news program in which an Egyptian official affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood declined to answer questions from Israeli journalists. Crowder reacted to the clip by saying, “Well, I mean, what it really comes down to is, a Muslim here, not too fond of the Jewish people. I’m not shocked. Then again, I’ve actually read the Quran. … I’m not saying all Muslims hate Christians and Jews. But there’s a high percentage, and it’s because of the Quran, if you’ve read it.”

When fellow Fox News contributor Pat Caddell responded, “Let’s stay with the real problem,” Crowder replied, “That is the real problem. The real problem is the Quran.”

Later Hannity tried to clarify, saying, “This is important for Steve. Because people are going to hear you say the problem is the Quran. Do you make a distinction between Islam and radical Islam? Those that believe that in sharia, jihad, holy war, infidels.”

Crowder replied, “Here’s the thing. I make distinctions between Muslims who may be peace-loving Muslims. There are Muslims out there who are that way. But when you read the Bible versus the Quran, they’re two very different books. And here, here. Don’t take my opinion. Open up the Quran, read a few chapters in any direction.”

In 2010 on Hannity’s Fox show, Crowder said that the “truth is that Muslims tend to be more violent than Christians.”

Some of Crowder’s other inflammatory statements:

From the June 27 edition of Fox News’ Hannity:

CROWDER: Well, I mean, what it really comes down to is, a Muslim here, not too fond of the Jewish people. I’m not shocked. Then again, I’ve actually read the Quran. This isn’t even just about the Muslim Brotherhood, OK? It traces back to the Quran and Muhammad. And people will try and say, “Well, what about the Bible? The Bible endorses slavery, which [unintelligible].”

Let’s go back to Muhammad versus Jesus and compare their lives. Jesus never waged a war, never killed anybody. His dying words, like Monty Python, castle of [groaning sound]. He didn’t say — he didn’t curse the Muslim and Christian — the Jewish and Christian people. Two very different lives.

I’m not saying all Muslims hate Christians and Jews. But there’s a high percentage, and it’s because of the Quran, if you’ve read it.

HANNITY: How, how dangerous — I see –

CADDELL: Let’s stay with the real problem –

CROWDER: That is the real problem. The real problem is the Quran.

BROOKE GOLDSTEIN (author): OK, and the real problem is our administration not recognizing real, imminent threats to our national security. Secretary Hillary Clinton said the Muslim Brotherhood is a peaceful party committed to nonviolence.

HANNITY: That’s ridiculous. That’s ridiculous.

GOLDSTEIN: Senator Kerry just released a statement saying that we should not prejudice the Muslim Brotherhood.

HANNITY: But let me ask you –

CADDELL: And they’re here in the United States.

HANNITY: Wait, hang on. This is important for Steve.

CROWDER: Yeah.

HANNITY: Because people are going to hear you say the problem is the Quran.

CROWDER: Yes.

HANNITY: Do you make a distinction between Islam and radical Islam? Those that believe that in sharia, jihad, holy war, infidels.

CROWDER: Here’s the thing. I make distinctions between Muslims who may be peace-loving Muslims. There are Muslims out there who are that way. But when you read the Bible versus the Quran, they’re two very different books. And here, here. Don’t take my opinion. Open up the Quran, read a few chapters in any direction. If you disagree with me, tweet me at scrowder, and I’ll be sure to tell you why you have no idea what you’re talking about.

  2. You can make the Koran or the Bible say anything. I expect to see any day now that the arabic was mistranslated and it is really kiss the infidels.

  3. S3,

excellent points. all the abrahamic religions are violent and should be walked away from. the god of abraham itself has killed women and children. no one to be worshiped.

  4. anon,

“You can make the Koran or the Bible say anything” don’t they say what they say? are you claiming that s3 misquoted.

“I expect to see any day now that the arabic was mistranslated and it is really kiss the infidels.” so do you expect the king james version one day to say kiss the Ammonites, Moabites, Edomites and Philistines, the Phoenicians?

  5. Infidel is an ecclesiastical term in Christianity around which the Church developed a body of theology that deals with the concept of infidelity, which makes a clear differentiation between those who were baptized and followed the teachings of the Church versus those who are outside the faith.[4] The term infidel was used by Christians to describe non-Christians or those perceived as the enemies of Christianity. The usage of the term for non-Christian monotheists distinguishes the term from heathen or pagan.[5] As such, the term infidel has often been applied to atheists, whose disbelief is viewed negatively by both Christianity and Islam.

After the ancient world the concept of otherness, an exclusionary notion of the outside by societies with more or less coherent cultural boundaries, became associated with the development of the monotheistic and prophetic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The conception of infidelity as a theological condition is a result of their strict conformity to monotheism, as well as their rejection and condemnation of pagan rites.

The origins of the word Infidel date to the late 15th century, deriving from the French infidèle or Latin īnfidēlis, from in- “not” + fidēlis “faithful” (from fidēs “faith”, related to fīdere ‘to trust’). The word originally denoted a person of a religion other than one’s own, specifically a Christian to a Muslim, a Muslim to a Christian, or a Gentile to a Jew.[3] Later meanings in the 15th century include “unbelieving”, “a non-Christian” and “one who does not believe in religion”

  6. s3,

that’s hilarious. what is your point? semper fi.

i think anon is transposing the word kill with kiss. not challenging the translation of infidel.

    anon,

don’t know if it was on purpose. but it just hit me. is that a homage to the movie, the book of eli? is so that would be hilarious in it’s deepth. probably just a coincidence.

  7. The interpretations and translations are endless. I have seen several of the famous wife beating verse, here is one:

Men are guardians over women because Allah has made some of them excel others and because the men spend of their wealth. So virtuous women are obedient and safeguard the secrets with Allah’s help. And admonish those of them on whose part you apprehend negligence. And leave them alone in their beds so as to chastise them. Then if they obey you seek no pretext against them. Surely Allah is the High the Great.

See? Whole clobber thing went away. Like magic.

  8. @S3: Ezekiel and Isiah were prophets. They weren’t giving commandments; they were foretelling the doom that would supposedly fall on the Jewish people if they didn’t start following the ones already given. So you shouldn’t include those.

All your quotes besides the first two, however, are fair game.

  9. The OT prophets mostly say that if society (this means you) neglects the poor there will be a terrible recompense.

  10. Neglect the poor and worship vain idols. The 2 main no nos that lead to terrible recompense

  11. Have also read that since officially the only real Koran is in Arabic, it is permissible to remove any potentially offensive passages, or rework the rest, and hand the kuffar any old thing titled Koran.

  12. “But when you read the Bible versus the Quran, they’re two very different books.” Good observation, different books are different, somebody get Crowder a PhD in Philosophy.

Let’s take Crowder’s nonsense as a truth. If a “high percentage” of Muslims are bigots and the Quran is a problem, what’s his suggestion? Global war on a 1400+yr old ideology with over 1 billion adherents? Even if taking Crowder’s sentiments as rational, he’s solution is the supremely irrational…which isn’t a surprise.

  13. The real problem in Islam are the Hadiths who made up sayings, and the Traditionalists. In the Torah, it says Jews are allowed to kill non Jews, this came from a crazy rabbi.

  14. here’s some nice stuff:

Wafa Sultan: So when you travel to a Western land you consider it the land of Allah, and you want your beliefs to apply there?

    Omar Bakri: Yes.

Wafa Sultan: You want to dictate to the native inhabitants of the country what they can do?

Omar Bakri: I invite them, and if they accept the command of Allah, then they may do so. If they don’t accept, and kick me out of the country, then we will fight against them. The relationship between us is either a pact of belief in Allah, or a peace treaty, or war. The general rule is that the blood and property of non-Muslims are permissible for us. Their blood and property are not inviolable. It is in their interest to have a peace treaty or dhimmi pact with me… The dhimmi pact falls under the Islamic shari’ah, but the peace treaty does not subject you to the shari’ah. That’s the way it is. Either you accept it, or we live in a state of war. The general rule is that the blood and property of infidels are permissible for Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad even said, “I was sent to fight against the people until they testify that there is no god but Allah, and I am the apostle of Allah.”

  15. I would like to know how many of the 1 billion adherents are really adhering.

  16. Mike and Anon are both idiots,
Here are some simple quick facts to show how dumb they really are. Infidel was a termed by Christian crusaders when they went around killing Muslims. An infidel is defined as a person who does not believe in God. If you ever noticed, the Quran recognizes Christians and Jews and Ahlul Kitab or “People of the Book” so infidel would be a more appropriate term used for atheists. So b4 jumping up and down and getting all excited let me also tell you another thing which you constantly fail to grasp. The QURAN FORBIDS KILLING of disbelievers unless they openly fight the Muslims or break a treaty, through violence. Perhaps the reason ur mind is no messed up on this fact is because u never bothered to read between the lines, in that the atheists and other disbelievers all broke their treaties first.

5:33 “The only reward for those who MAKE WAR upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed..

This verse is often misquoted by a bunch of atheistic websites. The most misquoted is 9:5. Atheists who quote this as proof of Islam’s violence are liars. Here is a website for people who are not idiots.
    http://islamicresponse.blogspot.com/2008/07/allegation-that-quran-tells-muslims-to.html

  17. Anon,
Seriously, u quoted wiki Islam? They are already listed as a hate website. No wonder you use the word infidel, and take hadith out of context. Most atheists do of course because they can no longer find violent passages against disbelievers without just cause (they fighting the Muslims first). So it becomes obvious just how desperate you are.

  18. Ya, Bennett. Kiss the infidel. Bakri and his ilk don’t think so. Besides, everybody always thinks the other side attacked first.

  19. Learn from Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (don’t understimate the islamic vicious islamic doctrine):

For nearly five hundred years, these rules and theories of an Arab Shaikh and the interpretations of generations of lazy and good-for-nothing priests have decided the civil and criminal law of Turkey. They have decided the form of the Constitution, the details of the lives of each Turk, his food, his hours of rising and sleeping the shape of his clothes, the routine of the midwife who produced his children, what he learned in his schools, his customs, his thoughts-even his most intimate habits. Islam – this theology of an immoral Arab – is a dead thing. Possibly it might have suited tribes in the desert. It is no good for modern, progressive state. God’s revelation! There is no God! These are only the chains by which the priests and bad rulers bound the people down. A ruler who needs religion is a weakling. No weaklings should rule.

  20. mr bennet,

regardless of the treaties and such. you don’t find it open ended to say to kill those who spread corruption?

did you call me an idiot. i’ve been “incited” to violence. if i killed you would that “explain” it? LOL.

  21. m bennet,

“Mike and Anon are both idiots,
Here are some simple quick facts to show how dumb they really are. Infidel was a termed by Christian crusaders when they went around killing Muslims.” the educated christians in the time of the crusades knew latin. infidel is clearly derived from the latin, fidelis. as in faithful. guess you could grasp my semper fi, as showing i know what fidelis means. the in prefix meaning not. unlike flammable and inflammable having the same, or equal meaning. did you not read s3′s post? you aren’t going to ask if he is 15 for quoting wiki?

“Quran recognizes Christians and Jews and Ahlul Kitab or “People of the Book” so infidel would be a more appropriate term used for atheists.” yeah so what? so regardless of the meaning of infidel or kuffar, it doesn’t matter if you are right about muslims only allowed defensive wars. so why are muslims so violent throughout the world?

5:33 “The only reward for those who make war upon Allah and His messenger AND strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed..

so do you have to make war AND mischief? or would striving after corruption on it’s own lead to the death denalty. is commiting adultry not spreading corruption of the community. we all know the penalty for that. so is blasphemy striving after corruption? is burning a koran striving after corruption? how about sorcery? apostate?

so why is it that there are death penalties for non war offensives?

  22. someone isn’t getting your memo.
