Top Ten differences between White Terrorists and Others

1. White terrorists are called “gunmen.” What does that even mean? A person with a gun? Wouldn’t that be, like, everyone in the US? Other terrorists are called, like, “terrorists.”

2. White terrorists are “troubled loners.” Other terrorists are always suspected of being part of a global plot, even when they are obviously troubled loners.

3. Doing a study on the danger of white terrorists at the Department of Homeland Security will get you sidelined by angry white Congressmen. Doing studies on other kinds of terrorists is a guaranteed promotion.

4. The family of a white terrorist is interviewed, weeping as they wonder where he went wrong. The families of other terrorists are almost never interviewed.

5. White terrorists are part of a “fringe.” Other terrorists are apparently mainstream.

6. White terrorists are random events, like tornadoes. Other terrorists are long-running conspiracies.

7. White terrorists are never called “white.” But other terrorists are given ethnic affiliations.

8. Nobody thinks white terrorists are typical of white people. But other terrorists are considered paragons of their societies.

9. White terrorists are alcoholics, addicts or mentally ill. Other terrorists are apparently clean-living and perfectly sane.

10. There is nothing you can do about white terrorists. Gun control won’t stop them. No policy you could make, no government program, could possibly have an impact on them. But hundreds of billions of dollars must be spent on police and on the Department of Defense, and on TSA, which must virtually strip search 60 million people a year, to deal with other terrorists.

  1. Utter nonsense

  2. talking point number 5.

    1. like, omg. is this guy like 15? like he is definately a liar.
    http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/10/us/wisconsin-temple-shooting/index.html
“”an act of terrorism, an act of hatred, a hate crime.””

    2. White terrorists are “troubled loners.” Other terrorists are always suspected of being part of a global plot, even when they are obviously troubled loners. so 19 people are loners. – who is this author. does he understand the definition of loner? how many were involved in 3/11 and 7/7. like this guy is an idiot.

    3. Doing a study on the danger of white terrorists at the Department of Homeland Security will get you sidelined by angry white Congressmen. Doing studies on other kinds of terrorists is a guaranteed promotion. – well i think the angry white congressmen took offense at targeting vets. i disagree with the white congressmen. we should definately be looking at our vets. the most famous white terrorist was ex-army. oh wait another exapmle of a white guy being called a terrorist. this author premise is LIKE SO WRONG, it’s laughable that this site would give him a platform.

    4. The family of a white terrorist is interviewed, weeping as they wonder where he went wrong. The families of other terrorists are almost never interviewed. – now this is truely hilarious. so what non-white terrorist family has ever asked to be interviewed and denied there request? whoever produced that news show should fired. what kind of idiot wouldn’t put the family on tv or quote them in the paper?

    5. White terrorists are part of a “fringe.” Other terrorists are apparently mainstream. – who ever said non-white terrorists are mainstream? this guy is so full of bullshit. dongo you got a hot poker ready?

    6. White terrorists are random events, like tornadoes. Other terrorists are long-running conspiracies. – no terrorist events aren’t random. they have specific targets, with specific motives. that’s what makes them terrorist as opposed random shootings, like texas a & m.

    7. White terrorists are never called “white.” But other terrorists are given ethnic affiliations. – lol. in america, with a white majority, rarely individuals are labeled as “white”. wait our first 43 presidents where all called “white” presidents. the white news anchor brian wilson reported… the white congressman. oh, yes some people do label others by there race.

    8. Nobody thinks white terrorists are typical of white people. But other terrorists are considered paragons of their societies. – who said that?

    9. White terrorists are alcoholics, addicts or mentally ill. Other terrorists are apparently clean-living and perfectly sane. – never heard anything anywhere close to this?

– what? after the okc the fbi ramped up it’s infiltration to white right-wings organization throughout the country. 100s of billions? oh he threw in the department of defense. lol. so he would have liked to seen the government respond to a truck bombing on okc by implimenting hightened security at airports? this guy is a total moron. the reason tsa was created because planes …really do i have to explain this to this idiot.

  3. not lone gunman. for two reasons, they didn’t use a gun, nor where they alone.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_World_Trade_Center_bombing

“The attack was planned by a group of conspirators including Ramzi Yousef, Mahmud Abouhalima, Mohammad Salameh, Nidal A. Ayyad, Abdul Rahman Yasin and Ahmad Ajaj. They received financing from Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, Yousef’s uncle. In March 1994, four men were convicted of carrying out the bombing: Abouhalima, Ajaj, Ayyad and Salameh. The charges included conspiracy, explosive destruction of property and interstate transportation of explosives. In November 1997, two more were convicted: Yousef, the mastermind behind the bombings, and Eyad Ismoil, who drove the truck carrying the bomb.”

  4. non-white lone gunman. not called a terrorist. because he wasn’t, he was just crazy.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech_massacre

“Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others[1] in two separate attacks, approximately two hours apart, before committing suicide. (Another 6 people were injured escaping from classroom windows.) The massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in U.S. history and one of the deadliest in the world.[2] It was also the worst act of mass murder on college students since Syracuse University lost 36 students in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103.[3] It is also the second-deadliest act of mass murder at a school campus in the United States, behind the Bath School bombing of 1927.”

  5. never heard of this before. bennet how can you not love wiki?
disgruntled people have been blowing things up since before you can remember.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_bombing

if you want “your muslim” crazys to be labeled as lone gunman, to not be associated with islam, tell them to stop screaming alluh akbar as they shot people. don’t make videos of your selves proclaiming you are blowing your self up in the name of allah. have al-zawahiri stop quoting the koran to rally the troops.

  6. The muslims, esp convert western/american muslims can’t wrap their heads around the fact that they harbor a large tribal warfare movement based on their religion.

  7. Cole is always agin US and for whomever else. Jeanne Kirkpatrick left the Dems because of people like him.

  8. Classic Drivel.

The more these loony types form a defense wall protecting the evil doctrine, the more CAIR and sheikhs will throw some change at them.

Those who can’t differentiate a racist threat from an Islamic threat don’t perhaps know the difference between a bullet and a nuclear bomb.

  9. So much truth!

  10. So much truth!

  11. Always found the term lone gunman as code for there will not be a real investigation.

  12. I had several lines written out in response to this article and I decided why write that much about this silly article. A person would have to be an idiot to believe this drivil. Look at this link if you want to listen to some real scarey nuts. These are not white nor from the Middle East.

  13. OMG how true!

  14. TOTALLY loved this list… keep up the good work Juan Cole, you know you did a great job when you’re hitting these haters where it hurts.. the trolls are hurting bad in the comments section. Keep the punches of truth coming Islamophobia Today!

  15. Too many generalizations…maybe that’s what Juan Cole was going for? Not sure if he is being satirical or not?

  16. true

  17. Juan Cole, one sign of good writing is when the writing states what the readers already know, deep down. You’ve dug the knowledge up and laid them out for us to re-know it. Thank you for this.

Ps: You know you did good when people write and rewrite lengthy responses to your “drivil”.

  19. “Juan Cole, one sign of good writing is when the writing states what the readers already know, deep down”

You must think Robert Spencer is a great writer.

  20. Lo,

“Ps: You know you did good when people write and rewrite lengthy responses to your “drivil”.” if so please feel free to show where i’m wrong. given the length of my comments it should be easy. here’s a muslim’s father being interviewed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgcvtci23AE

so you agree that 19 hyjackers where loners? is english not your first language?

“one sign of good writing is when the writing states what the readers already know, deep down.” i think you mean to say here that you agree with his writing therefore you find it to be good, even if not factual.
“You’ve dug the knowledge up and laid them out for us to re-know it.” knowledge, he’s not even right, how is that knowledge. this article reminds me of when in seminole there was a jewish doctor arrested for plotting to shoot up some mosques. a muslim wrote a letter in saying ‘why isn’t he call a terrorist,’ even thought the headline read, ‘seminole doctor charged with terrorism’. lol

  21. not the original article i was looking for. but it looks like there was a real investigation. three more people arrested

    http://www.sptimes.com/2002/10/25/TampaBay/Podiatrist_s_wife_arr.shtml

“On Thursday, two months after her husband’s arrest on charges of plotting to blow up dozens of Islamic centers and mosques, Mrs. Goldstein, 28, was arrested by federal agents who believe she had a role in the plan.”

no interview of the family, why because they didn’t want to commit? you woulda of thunk it? number 4. is just so funny. a right hook of truth. well more like a swing and a miss. lol.

  22. […] by Juan Cole, IT […]

  23. Over at Huffpo articles dealing with the Taliban shia massacres are calling them gunmen.

  24. Dear Sir

I just loved the article! For its frank exposure of double standards in the west. The west’s propaganda to fool its citizenries about their motives to wage wars and to sustain a hysteria against Muslims.

Please keep up the good work! Continued efforts like these will start working someday. Inshallah.

  25. Is this an observation on what the media perceive terrorists to be or official government bodies?
Because in the world of government bodies, we very rarely use the word terrorist. It’s gunman/gunmen/criminal/enemies/target/the enemy. Etc. but never terrorist. It’s juvenile and unprofessional to use.
Stop trying to stir up racial hate and take a look at the facts before spewing your crap.

Have your say!
