Lars Vilks defends decision to join Geller’s hate fest

Swedish artist Lars Vilks has defended his decision to speak at an anti-Islamic conference in New York on September 11th, claiming he would also accept an invitation from the Ku Klux Klan.

Vilks, the Swedish artist who enraged Muslim groups with his depictions of the Prophet Muhammad as a dog, agreed earlier this month to speak at a conference organized by the anti-Muslim group Stop Islamization of Nations (SION).

Last week, however, an art gallery in northern Sweden booted him from a planned group exhibition because of his decision to accept the SION invitation. Several of the other participating artists pulled out in solidarity with Vilks, stirring up a debate in Sweden this week about artistic freedom and Islamophobia. The art exhibition, which was due to open on September 30th, has since been cancelled.

In a lengthy interview published in the Aftonbladet newspaper on Thursday, Vilks defended his decision to speak at the SION event. “If the Ku Klux Klan had invited me, I would have gone,” he told the paper.

  1. muslims are against freedom of speech. muslims are ANTI-FREE SPEECH. there is cearly no place for islam in america if they can’t accept artistic, or any other form of critisism. FUCK MUHAMMAD. ALLAH IS A BASTARD. THERE IS NO GOD.

    so you can’t be anti-islamic? you can’t be anti-communist? you can’t be anti-socalistic? you can’t be anti-govenment? you can’t be anti-abortion? you can’t be anti-christian. you can’t be anti-gay. you can’t be anti-jeiwsh? you can’t be anti-capitalism? you can’t be anti-white? ya’ll are funny.

  2. The funny thing is that he refused to give an interview to a Swedish neo-nazi publication Nationell.nu. He mentioned their antisemitism as a reason for that. So, no, he probably would not have come if the Ku Klux Klan called him.

Also, “mike”… How can a God be a bastard? If one believes in Christianity or in Islam, then they ultimately believe in the same God. I think you need to chill out and read a book or two, preferably books that do not only strenthen your convictions with some ideologically motivated propaganda. Challange yourself. Challenge your intellect, IF you in fact have one. And, for F’s sake, stop generalizing. People are individuals, you know.

  3. ” If one believes in Christianity or in Islam, then they ultimately believe in the same God.”

They don’t believe in the same god at all.

  4. kent,

“Also, “mike”… How can a God be a bastard?” same way anyone is a bastard. by his actions. sorry i wasn’t using the term in the literal sense, as in born out of wedlock.
“If one believes in Christianity or in Islam, then they ultimately believe in the same God.” yeah the jews too. the god of abraham. you don’t think he is a bastard? do we need to review his bastard like behavior? turning lot’s wife into a pillar of salt for looking. i mean come on. he is raining down fire and brimstone and he expects her not to be a little curious. had to be a hell of a show. how about the passover. you believe he sent the angel of death to kill the first born egyptian male? the great flood? al-khidr killing the boy for having a corrupt heart?
“I think you need to chill out and read a book or two,” oh i’m chilled baby pop. what books would you recommend? the bible. done. the koran. done.
“preferably books that do not only strenthen your convictions with some ideologically motivated propaganda. Challange yourself. Challenge your intellect, IF you in fact have one.” lol. not much of one that’s for sure. again what do you recommend? speaking of reading have you ever read deuteronomy? leviticus?
“And, for F’s sake, stop generalizing. People are individuals, you know.” of course. never said they weren’t. but are you saying that there is no common beliefs that tie muslims together? are you saying that some muslims don’t believe in the koran?

how’s this for being a bastard. well maybe that’s more just being a cock blocker. shit that’s not very intellectual of me. oh well.

    24:2

الزانية والزاني فاجلدوا كل واحد منهما مائة جلدة ولا تأخذكم بهما رأفة في دين الله إن كنتم تؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر وليشهد عذابهما طائفة من المؤمنين

The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

i look forward to your intellectually superior response. you have a good one boss.

  5. “If one believes in Christianity or in Islam, then they ultimately believe in the same God.” yeah the jews too. the god of abraham.”

That doesn’t work, the jewish god didn’t send jesus, the christian god sent jesus who died on the cross, the muslim god didn’t send jesus who died on the cross.

The christians can claim the same god as the jews but it can’t be. The muslims can claim the same god as the christians but it can’t be. The jews don’t claim the christian and muslim god is the same as theirs.

  6. jane,

well they share the old testement and it’s prophets. the “creator” of adam and eve. the god who told abraham his ancestors would number the stars in the sky, then told him to kill his son. but he stopped him of course. the god of lot and noah and moses, is all the same mythological being. yes they obviously diverge when jesus comes on the sceen. the jew say he’s not the messiah. the christian’s say he is and the son of god, and god. the divinity of the trinity. well most christians. i think the mormons believe that jesus is the same as adam and the archangel michael. the word, or the light, became flesh. not sure so many mythologies. the muslims say jesus was the messiah but not god incarnate. they say paul falsely created the doctrine of the trinity. plus they say jesus wasn’t killed on the cross, but that god took him up to heaven to return.

but the trunk of the abrahamic tree doesn’t really split. there are just some branches headed off in different directions. it’s kinda of like zeus is the same god as jupiter. i think? aries and mars? hermes and nike? well they are all monotheistic, of the same one god. not the god of the zorostians, or the sikhs or the jainis.

there is some differance within their angelic mythologies as well. the most offensive thing i’ve found in islam is that they make michael the archangel (gods general, the prince of princes, the vanguisher of lucifer) to a depressed farmer. to relegate my name sake to such a lowly position is blasphemy. my honor has been offended. i demand justice.

anyways, i’m not even sure why “kent” with his intellect said: “If one believes in Christianity or in Islam, then they ultimately believe in the same God”???????

    jane, you need to chill.

  7. They have some common ground because each is built on what went before. But the jewish god didn’t send jesus and the christian god didn’t send mohammed. So they aren’t the same god. All a bit moot really given there are no gods.

  8. i agree. not the same god. and:

  9. No matter i have different god, (guys do you think how many god in this universe), i believe god is not a bastard. Just stay away from him then.

Have your say!
