MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A worship center in the Grand Strand filed a trespassing complaint after a man drove into their parking lot and made several insulting statements.
According to a police report, someone from the Grand Strand Islamic Center on Waccamaw Boulevard called Horry County Police on Sept. 28 to report a trespassing that occurred around 4 p.m. the day before.
The alleged trespasser was an older, heavy set man with white hair and glasses. He was driving a red Chevrolet pick-up truck when he pulled into the parking lot of the Grand Strand Islamic Center that day and asked the worship center member what the building was.
After receiving an answer the man in the truck “asked whether or not the Victim had killed anyone that day,” the police report states.
The man then made several “religiously bigoted statements” before he left the area.
The man who called police said the Islamic Center has been in the Grand Strand for several years, and this was the first time they have had any problems. They are now considering putting up fencing to keep cars off the property when the building is closed.
