A Long Island synagogue has canceled a controversial speech by conservative firebrand Pamela Geller. Geller was set to speak Sunday at the Great Neck Synagogue. She had been invited by the men’s club at the synagogue to give a speech on Sharia, the religious and moral code of Islam.

A Madison, Wis., gas station sign board known for its quirky messages is causing a stir for its latest posting. As CBS affiliate WISC-TV reports, a sign posted outside of the BP in the Willy Street neighborhood Thursday morning read: “DONT DIE A VIRGIN TERRORISTS ARE UP THERE WAITING FOR YOU.”

Some tight knit neighbors in Longview are protesting construction of a mosque on their street. The spot is technically in Gregg county but right next to their homes. “We have respect for their religion and we’re not against that but we just did not want all the traffic,” says neighbor Rhonda Harris.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A Chicago man is suing his former employer in federal court, claiming he was fired because of his religious beliefs. As WBBM Newsradio’s David Roe reports, Nathan Henderson is suing the American Bottling Company, headquartered at 15320 S. Halsted St. in Harvey.
