US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton compared the man who shot Gabrielle Giffords to Islamist terrorists and the 9/11 attackers and said the incident showed America and the Arab world faced similar problems.

INDIANAPOLIS — U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Indianapolis, said the mass shooting in Arizona that critically injured a colleague underscores a need to tone down the contentious rhetoric associated with political debate. As one of two African-American and Muslim members of Congress, Carson said he’s no stranger to political hatred and threats, 6News’ Jennifer Carmack reported.

Peter King is the envy of (a) former Senator Joseph McCarthy and (b) the folks in Salem, MA who were looking for, respectively, communists and witches.

Ellison, who became America’s first Muslim member of Congress in 2006, said that investigations like the one proposed by King will not cause members of the community to cooperate with law enforcement.

Sue Myrick, John Shadegg, Paul Broun and Trent Franks, all Republican Representatives are attempting to rekindle the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory they advanced not too long ago about “Muslim spy interns.”

Allen West, a favorite of Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller is the likely winner in Florida for a seat in Congress. This is quite troubling though not surprising news. West is a supporter of Geert Wildersand is a staunch hater of Islam and a bigoted racist against Arabs.

Muslim faith, Judson Phillips, founder of the Tea PartyNation, suggested this weekend that Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) be voted out of Congress for being too liberal and too radical–and because, Phillips said, he’s a Muslim who supports terrorists.

Ellison is the first Muslim to be elected to Congress, but he’s not the only one. André Carson has been representing Indiana in the House since 2008.

In a race that has largely been flying under the national radar, a former Marine who killed two unarmed Iraqi prisoners in 2004 and who has made the threat of Islam and the “ground zero mosque” centerpieces of his campaign has a real shot at being elected to Congress.

One glaring example is found in the 9th Congressional District of North Carolina, represented by one of the most conservative members of the House and Tea Party caucus member, Sue Myrick. It includes the largest city in the state.
