NEW YORK — A man accused of pulling the beard of a Sikh professor before a group of young men who had called the professor “Osama” and a “terrorist” attacked him, has been arrested and charged with a hate crime, police said Saturday.

Police have arrested the man who allegedly called a 15-year-old Muslim girl “a terrorist” and threatened to kill her on an MTA bus going through Kew Gardens Hills, authorities said. Perry Germano, 50, allegedly blew a fuse when the teen’s bag brushed against him on board the crowded Q88 bus at about 9 a.m. April 7, cops said.

During a pretrial motion hearing March 25, El Cajon police detective Darren Forster made a startling admission. A mosque in Cairns in far north Queensland has been targeted by vandals. The front of the Cairns North mosque was sprayed with large red letters early yesterday, calling for the worshippers to “integrate” or return to their “homelands”.
