Following an acid bomb being hurled at a Muslim school in the Chicago suburb of Lombard, a spokesperson for CAIR told Raw Story that the number of attacks on American Muslims has escalated recently due in part to the Republican Party’s “Islamophobia machine”.

“It is a great day for people of faith and for Illinois’s Muslim. Illinois is the firststate in the nation that recognizes the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting in Islam, as the month of protecting our environment and our earth for all faith groups.” said Dr. Zaher Sahloul, Chairperson of the CIOGC.
